Ranger options for kids at Werribee Open Range Zoo

Hayley, 8, had a taste of what it’s like to be a ranger on an African savannah during a visit to Werribee Open Range Zoo last week.

She was one of the first children to experience the zoo’s new play space, where children can dress up as a ranger or vet, perform surgery on a lion and fuel up a helicopter before surveying the savannah for sick and injured animals.

Zoo director Sally Lewis said the space was designed to help nurture a love of wildlife in children and give them an insight into what it’s like to be a vet.

The play space is open from 11am-3pm until April 21 and will become a permanent attraction after the school holidays.
