Werribee Plaza Library stays open through $370m redevelopment

Wyndham bookworms are being reminded they can still get a healthy dose of reading material as the Werribee Plaza Library will remain open during the shopping centre’s redevelopment.

Werribee Plaza is undergoing a $370 million makeover that will include a change of name to Pacific Werribee.

Although there is currently a reduction in the number of car parks, the library’s operating hours will remain the same during construction works. As part of the redevelopment, the library will be relocated into a new building in early 2015.

Cr Heather Marcus said the works would be worth the wait.

“Once complete, the library will feature new and upgraded facilities, including a quiet study room – perfect for those seeking a peaceful place to do homework or prepare for exams,” Cr Marcus said.

“The new library will be ideally located for young people, in the entertainment precinct at the new plaza on the first level.

“These works will continue in the coming months … people should consider coming to the library during quieter times and be patient when looking for car parking.

“Patrons are also encouraged to visit one of our other branches in the Werribee City Centre, Wyndham Vale or Point Cook.”

Cr Marcus said residents would be kept up to date with any changes to the library’s hours through the council’s website and Facebook page.
