Carranballac College students are rolling up their sleeves to tackle Point Cook’s litter problem.
As part of Litter Week, which runs until Saturday, the students have created a litter trap at the Point Cook wetlands by planting native vegetation to catch rubbish.
Mr Forrester, who is also executive officer of Wyndham’s LitterWatch group, said the students were keen to reduce the amount of litter in the wetlands and at their nearby Jamieson Way campus.
He said a litter survey carried out over the Anzac Day long weekend found there were 120 pieces of rubbish strewn around the school’s boundaries, 60 of which were from takeaway food.
