Hoppers Crossing boy dies after multi-car crash in Truganina

A 10-year-old boy has died after a multi-car crash in Truganina last week left him critically injured.

The Hoppers Crossing boy was left fighting for life after being pulled from the wreckage of the collision between a tip truck, a van and a sedan in Hopkins Road, Truganina, shortly before 4pm last Tuesday.

He was taken to the the Royal Children’s Hospital where he died on Monday.

The boy had been a passenger in the van, which was also carrying a girl, 6, and two other boys, aged 5 and 4, who were also injured.

Police allege the van was cut off by the Audi sedan, which braked suddenly, causing the multi-car collision.

Ian Bouch, 46, of Tarneit, has been charged with conduct endangering life, negligently causing serious injury and dangerous driving causing serios injury.

A police spokesman said his charges could be upgraded after the boy’s death.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
