Summer is heating up across the west with a mix of music, culture and experiences for locals to enjoy.
Love Westside has put together a guide for February and March, aiming to shine a spotlight on some of the local events on offer.
Celebrate the Year of the Horse with vibrant Lunar New Year festivities in the west.
Footscray Park will host the Vietnamese Tết Lunar New Year Festival on 28 February, featuring cultural performances, exhibitions, food stalls, fireworks and family activities.
On 1 March, Point Cook Town Centre will come alive with a free, family-friendly festival showcasing nearly 400 performers, lion and dragon dances, international folk performances, martial arts, workshops and a multicultural market.
Spotswood Summer Sessions will return with the free pop-up music event offering relaxing afternoons and good vibes.
Sessions run from noon to 6pm at Forest Street on 14-15 March.
There’s even more live music on offer with Australian alternative rock band Eskimo Joe set to headline the Twilight Festival at Lincoln Park, Essendon, celebrating 20 years of their award-winning album ‘Black Fingernails, Red Wine’.
The free event begins at 5pm on 28 February.
If that still doesn’t fully scratch the music itch, locals can attend a ticketed concert by Australian rock band Models at Yarraville’s Kindred Bandroom on 20 February.
And don’t miss out on the final Sunset Safari at Werribee Open Range Zoo on 21 February where locals can spend an incredible evening out with some of the world’s most iconic animals.
