Woman dies following crash in Melton

Police have charged a man following the death of a woman after she was struck by a truck in Melton on Friday 2 January.

It is alleged the truck stuck the woman on Coburns Road about 10am.

Ambulance arrived and treated the 74-year-old Brookside woman at the scene, and she was transported to hospital but died on Sunday 4 January.

The 22-year-old Tarneit man has been charged with unlicensed driving, failing to stop at a red light and dangerous driving causing death.

He has been remanded into custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 8 May.
