Road upgrades complete

Wyndham council has announced that an $8.5 million upgrade of Old Melbourne, Rothwell and McLeans roads in Little River have been completed.

The works consisted of a complete rebuild of Old Melbourne Road between Little River and Little River Road, as well as the sealing of lanes, shoulders and drainage works on Rothwell Road between Old Melbourne and McLeans roads.

Council is planning further upgrades to McLeans and Rothwell roads, of which will be subject to later funding as part of its Connecting Wyndham project.

Cr Mia Shaw said the upgrades deliver enhanced road safety, smoother traffic flow and reduced maintenance costs.

“This upgrade is a win for everyone in Little River,” she said.

“These upgrades aren’t just about fixing roads, they’re about improving travel for our community.”

Cr Shaw said this upgrade was a tangible example of the project doing its job and making an area easy and safer to navigate.

“Safer roads, smoother journeys, and less time spent in traffic mean our community can get where they need to go more easily and safely,” she said.

“Through our Connecting Wyndham program, we’re investing in better, safer roads for everyone.

“This project is a perfect example of how we’re making it easier to move around Wyndham.”
