Wyndham Vale man charged with arson

Police arrested two men following a suspicious fire at a Laverton business during the early morning of Friday, September 26.

Police were on patrol when they spotted a vehicle repair building on fire on Triholm Avenue just after 3.30am.

It is alleged two male offenders poured accelerant and set a number of vehicles and the premises on fire when one of the offenders also caught alight.

Officers extinguished the man and arrested both men on scene.

A 22-year-old Tarneit man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where he remains under police guard.

A 19-year-old Wyndham Vale man was charged with arson and the theft of a motor vehicle.

He faced Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on Saturday September 27.

The investigation remains ongoing.
