Werribee hit-run under investigation

Police are investigating the circumstances of a hit-run collision in Werribee that injured a pedestrian last month.

Investigators have been told a group of people were walking along Margaret Street when a vehicle mounted the footpath and drove towards them about 3.45pm on Sunday, August 10.

The car struck a 15-year-old boy from the Wyndham area who was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries that required surgery.

According to police, the vehicle was then driven away from the scene at a high speed.

Investigators believe the vehicle involved is an early 2000s model Honda Civic with false number plates, a silver body and gold front bumper.

The Honda has two distinctive black stripes on the bonnet and minor red markings/panel damage to the back right side of the vehicle.

CCTV footage of the vehicle has been released in the hope someone may recognise it and be able to assist police in identifying the driver.

Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
