FFV: Hoppers Crossing Reds into state league 4 final

Hoppers Crossing is through to the Football Federation Victoria men’s state league 4 final after a runaway 4-1 win over Upfield at Arndell Park Reserve on Friday night.

The Reds were lucky to have parity (1-1) at half-time, thanks to a spectacular save from goalkeeper Shaun Page just before the break.

Upfield scored first, but Khalil Assaad equalised with a glancing header from a set piece.

The second half was all one-way traffic, with Reds winger Zia Sherzai a constant threat on the left side.

He was rewarded for his hard work to put Hoppers 2-1 ahead and Liam McDermott and Alistair Smart added the third and fourth.

Hoppers will face Croydon City Arrows in the final at Jubilee Park, Ringwood at 6pm on Saturday.
