The power of nature and the lessons we can learn by reconnecting with the natural environment will be the focus of a free talk by author Simon Mustoe.
Mustoe will launch his latest book, ‘How to Survive the Next 100 Years: Lessons from Nature’, with a talk and question and answer session at the Williamstown Bowling Club on Saturday, June 21, from 7-8.20pm.
The event is part of the Willy Lit Fest.
Mustoe said his latest book reveals “how we can consume a more balanced variety of knowledge to become healthier and happier by reconnecting with nature”.
“From chimps to mini-cars, brain parasites to whale personhood, farming with bandicoots and stressed-out grasshoppers: the key to avoiding disaster is to work within the natural balance of our beautiful world,” he said.
“Contained within our minds and everything around us is the solution to our anxiety.”
After the talk, Mustoe will joined by Josie Gibson (The Catalyst Network) and acclaimed community conservation and rewilding experts Anissa Lawrence (Ocean Earth Foundation) and Donalea Patman (FLOWildlife) for the question and answer session.
“The audience will hear talk about innovative work being done to unlock the power of nature through community co-design in Port Phillip Bay. And they will learn how such community-led conservation unlocks the power of nature to restore local economies and ecosystems,” Mustoe said.
“This promises to be a positive, lively and informative event giving you a whole new appreciation of the natural world and how you can make a real difference.”
