Truganina CFA receives grant for rehabilitation unit

The Truganina Fire Brigade has received a boost to continue its vital work.

Earlier this month, Community Bank Altona and Laverton presented a $2000 cheque to the brigade to support its rehab unit, which helps safeguard firefighter wellbeing during incidents.

The unit allows firefighters to recover from what can be challenging ordeals and get back to responding to emergencies.

The brigade’s truck is equipped with monitoring equipment that checks oxygen and carbon monoxide levels, heart rate, hydration levels and has cool down chairs which help cool down a firefighter’s core temperature.

Members of the rehabilitation unit do not have to be trained firefighters, which allows a greater opportunity for volunteers to get involved.
