Bus services across Melbourne’s north and west will be disrupted by industrial action tomorrow.
More than 800 drivers with bus operators Dysons and CDC will go on strike on Wednesday, May 28, affecting services across Melbourne’s north, north-west, western and eastern suburbs, as well as Geelong, Ballarat and Mildura.
Transport Workers Union (TWU) members at both companies voted to go on strike for 24 hours after enterprise bargaining negotiations with Dyons and CDC broke down.
Drivers will walk off the job at 3am tomorrow morning and won’t return until the same time on Thursday.
The strike will hit particularly hard in Melbourne’s west where in addition to normal bus routes not running, school bus services operated by CDC in Altona, Werribee and Wyndham Vale will be cancelled.
However, CDC school bus services in Sunshine and in the north-west suburbs of Sydenham, Essendon and Glenroy, will run.
Most metropolitan bus services operated by Dysons in the northern suburbs will operate to a Saturday timetable with additional services in the morning.
All Dysons school bus services will run as normal.
