The Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has fined an individual at a Hoppers Crossing business $1976 for receiving but failing to record reportable priority waste.
The individual is required to pay the fine following a January inspection by EPA officers of the Richards Road property where the individual’s business, SJ1, operates.
EPA west metropolitan regional manager Jeremy Settle said ‘Waste Tracker’, their system which electronically tracks waste when it is created, transported and deposited, will tip them off to any conduct breaches.
“If there’s a break in the Waste Tracker chain, we can see there is an issue and take action,” he said.
“Failing to keep proper records is therefore an offence and we’re sending a clear message to businesses that it will cost them.”
