Wyndham schools and youth organisations are being encouraged to get more active during the school year.
IPC Health, which has been running initiatives such as The Active Living program and the Active Travel Arts program, is looking to build off the successes it had helping primary-age students embrace healthier lifestyles in 2024.
Rolled out in local schools such as Little River Primary School, Wyndham Vale Primary School and Manorvale Primary School, The Active Travel Arts program allowed students to depict the active aspects of their lives through murals, illustrations and installations.
Through the ‘hands on’ approach and consistent activities, students documented their surroundings and progressively added them to their evolving pieces.
Wyndham Vale Primary School visual arts specialist teacher Lynnette Kennedy said displaying their work at the project’s conclusion enabled the wider school community to engage with and learn from the key messages of the program.
Little River Primary School’s students made collage pictures of themselves actively travelling to school, which culminated in the pieces being printed onto mesh that was installed on the fence at the entrance.
Schools and groups interested in participating can reach out to IPC Health on 1300 472 432.
