Movember is officially back for another year, with men across Australia getting involved.
Since 2003, Movember has been a symbol of solidarity and support for men’s health that’s grown to transcend borders and changed the face of men’s health forever.
Supporters across the globe put down their razors, embrace their growing moustaches, and unite in the annual movement to spark millions of important conversations, raise vital funds and continue to advocate for improvements to men’s health.
‘Mo’s’ and their supporters raise crucial awareness and life-saving funds for men’s health, from mental health and suicide prevention to prostate and testicular cancer.
The moustache becomes more than just a hairy upper lip — it’s transformed into a powerful statement for change, a walking, talking billboard for men’s health.
This year, Movember has made significant progress in changing the face of men’s health, launching its first-ever Men’s Health Report and advocacy campaign through the Real Face of Men’s Health to highlight the far-reaching impact and ripple effect a man in poor health can have on his family and community.
Among the 6 million Mo’s who Grow, Move and Host, is 2024 AFL Mark of the Year winner, testicular cancer survivor and Movember Ambassador Bobby Hill, who says “It’s an honour to be part of a long-standing legacy, raising awareness of the mental and physical struggles faced by men and the impact it has on the wider community.
It is vital to value your health and ask for help. Not only will you be taking the lead on your own health, but you can inspire other men to do the same.”
Movember chief executive Michelle Terry said “In Australia, men are more likely to die from preventable causes like suicide, to engage in high-risk behaviours such as substance misuse, and to experience social isolation. They often have poorer health literacy than women, making them less likely to seek preventative healthcare when needed.”
“These factors contribute to a culture of poor physical and mental health among Australian boys and men.
“At Movember, we are committed to tackling these issues head-on with proactive health initiatives that empower men to take charge of their health and seek support when needed.
“Remember, every moustache can start a conversation, and every donation saves lives.”
