Man arrested after police officer struck in Point Cook collision

Police have charged a man following a collision in Point Cook that left a police officer in hospital on Sunday, October 20.

The 21-year-old man was charged with the aggravated reckless exposure of police officer to risk by driving, assaulting police, recklessly causing injury, resisting police, theft of a motor vehicle, driving whilst disqualified and drug offences.

Police say they located two people inside an allegedly stolen Mazda SUV on Sneydes Road about 1pm.

It is alleged that the driver tried to flee before hitting a police vehicle and knocking an officer to the ground.

Allegedly, the female passenger got out of the car and fled the scene on foot.

The injured police officer was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they located the vehicle in Catalina Court.

The man was arrested at a property on Campaspe Way in Point Cook about 8am on Monday, October 21.
