Two arrested after Truganina van theft and evade

A man and a woman were arrested after allegedly stealing a van and evading police in Truganina on Wednesday.

It is alleged they stole a DHL delivery van from an address on Tallis Circuit in Truganina about 2.30pm on April 24.

The Air Wing then observed the van being driving through Mt Derrimut Road crossing onto the wrong side of the street and running red lights.

Officers deployed stop sticks along Rothesay Street in Derrimut, however the van was driven on its rims, until it came to a stop on Leakes Road in Truganina.

The van was dumped, with the occupants fleeing on foot before being arrested a short time later.

No one was injured.

The man and woman, both from Queensland, are currently assisting police with their inquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
