Truganina tobocco store ram raid

Police are investigating if a ram raid burglary on a Truganina tobacco store on Monday is connected to a string of attacks on cigarette outlets across Victoria.

The incident occurred at a tobacco store on Leakes Road about 4.30am on January 1.

It is believed a car was used by two unknown offenders to ram through the front roller doors of the store.

The two offenders then stole a quantity of cigarettes from the store before returning to the car and driving off.

The investigation remains ongoing.

An estimated 30 tobacco outlets across Victoria have been attacked in the past year in what police believe is a struggle between organised crime gangs for control of the illegal cigarette trade.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
