A chemical spill caused traffic gridlock in Laverton North on Tuesday morning.
Fire Rescue Victoria members were called to the spill on the corner of
Doherty’s and Fitzgerald Roads at about 10.30am on October 31.
Crew members arrived to find approximately 2000 litres of a chemical believed to be hydrochloric acid, leaking from two intermediate bulk containers.
Additional support, including HAZMAT technicians, were requested, bringing the total number of firefighters on the scene to 30.
The spill was quickly brought under control and no injuries were reported.
Traffic around the Doherty’s Road and Fitzgerald Road intersection remained congested until well into the afternoon.
