Police are investigating if three teenagers arrested after fleeing from a crash in St Albans yesterday, are linked to two alleged attempted carjackings in Werribee earlier in the day.
The three males were seen running from the scene of the crashed car on St Albans Road, after they struck a power pole at speed, at about 3.40pm on Wednesday October 25.
Shortly after, the trio were arrested at the intersection of Furlong Road and Western Ring Road.
Two of the teens, a 17-year-old from Thomastown and a 16-year-old from Lalor, were taken to hospital where they remain under police guard.
The other offender was a 17-year-old from Burnside Heights.
Police confirmed the crashed Subaru was allegedly stolen during an aggravated carjacking in Campbellfield on 17 October.
Police are also investigating whether the teens are linked to a number of other incidents across Melbourne, including the alleged attempted carjackings in Werribee earlier on Wednesday afternoon.
The first attempt allegedly occurred in Vincent Crescent, Werribee at about 1.15pm yesterday, while the second allegedly took place in nearby Slattery Street at about 1.30pm.
Possible links to two other incidents on the previous day are also being pursued.
At about 10.45pm on Tuesday October 24 an alleged carjacking occurred at a service station in Harvest Home Road in Epping, where a man was allegedly threatened with a hammer and knife and had his car stolen.
Then at about midnight a firearm was allegedly discharged and Molotov cocktail thrown into a home in Newhaven Street in Thomastown.
