Hoppers Crossing man dies in Derrimut factory fire

Police are investigating a factory fire in Derrimut this morning which killed a man from Hoppers Crossing.

Emergency services were called to Swann Drive following reports of a chemical explosion at about

9.45am.

At least 30 people were forced to evacuate the building, while fire crews brought the blaze under control.

A deceased 44-year-old man was later discovered inside the building.

No one else was injured.

The circumstances surrounding the fire are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.

Worksafe have been notified and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
