A Hoppers Crossing kindergarten was evacuated earlier this afternoon after a fire broke out at a home next door.
Fire crews arrived at the scene in Wilmington Avenue, Hoppers Crossing at about 1.00pm on Thursday August 24 to find the single story brick veneer building well alight.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus set about preventing the blaze from spreading further and bringing it under control.
A neighbouring kindergarten was fully evacuated and all occupants accounted for.
The home was unoccupied at the time of the blaze which was brought under control by 1.20pm.
The Fire Investigation Unit is currently at the scene trying to determine the cause of the blaze, while the Council Building Surveyor has been called to attend.
Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria members were also in attendance.
