Teens arrested over alleged Tarneit teacher assaults

Five teenage girls have been arrested following the alleged assault of four school teachers in Tarneit on Tuesday.

It’s alleged the girls attended a Leakes Road school in relation to an ongoing issue with a student at about 3.50pm on August 22.

Four teachers were allegedly assaulted while trying to protect the student.

Police quickly responded and arrested five people at the scene.

One 19-year-old female was charged with affray and bailed to appear at Werribee Magistrates Court on 8th January 2024.

The four other youths, all from Tarneit, are expected to be charged on summons with affray and unlawful assault.

“There is no place for violence in our schools,” an Education Department spokesperson said.

“We are aware of these incidents and are working closely with the school, impacted students and families as well as cooperating with Victoria Police who are investigating the incidents.

All schools have strong policies in place to address any incidents of violence or bullying.”
