Record number of Victorians in work

Victoria's unemployment rate is 3.7 per cent.

Victorian employment numbers grew to a record level last month, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) figures released July 20.

The data revealed an additional 7500 Victorians, including those in Sunbury and Macedon Ranges, secured a job in June, pushing the total number of people in work to more than 3.63 million.

Over the past year 123,600 Victorians found work, which maintains the state’s unemployment rate of 3.7 per cent.

Acting Treasurer Danny Pearson said this fantastic news allows Victorians to plan with confidence.

“There have never been more Victorians in work and that’s fantastic news for families right across the state,” Mr Pearson said.

“A job means security and fulfilment and allows people to plan with confidence for the future.”

The state’s share of people working or seeking employment remains at 67.6 per cent, and Victoria’s regional unemployment rate is 3.1 per cent.
