AFL is celebrating its mighty kids’ fan base with the return of the kids go free month for fans across Australia.
The initiative is set to kick off this weekend and run during rounds 16 to 19 of the 2023 AFL premiership season.
Each match across the kids go free month will have nominated ticket categories where junior tickets will be free for kids aged 14 years and under. Terms and conditions apply.
AFL executive general manager finance, clubs and broadcast Travis Auld said the initiative will continue to drive strong fan attendance for this year’s season.
“The AFL is thrilled to launch our second year of [the] kids go free month,” Mr. Auld said.
“It was a big hit in 2022, with a 22 per cent increase in junior attendance at games during the campaign.
“We’ve seen record crowd attendances this season, with more than four million fans attending matches across the country.
“A blockbuster nine rounds of men’s football left, there’s no better time for fans of all ages to come to the footy and enjoy the entertainment on and off the field.”
There will also be family-focused activities at select venues, including; entertainment, footy inflatables, meet and greets, Kick-to-Kick, dedicated Fan Zone experiences and face painting stations.
All day-games at Marvel Stadium in rounds 16 to 19 will have free popcorn and fruit for juniors, a DJ and a Bike ‘n’ Blend station for adults and kids to power blend their own smoothies.
ALF said the initiative is set to help families save up to $28 for a junior ticket at various stadiums across the country.
