Planting Indigenous gardens, building habitats to attract native birds and wildlife excursions are among the activities young people in Wyndham could experience though the 2023 Landcare Grants program.
The Victorian Landcare Grants and Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants are now open, with $4.4 million in funding available to help children and volunteers care for the environment.
Volunteer conservation groups such as Landcare, Coastcare, Indigenous organisations and even groups of friends can apply for Victorian Landcare Grants, which offer up to $20,000 to support environmental protection projects.
Up to $500 to assist with administration and running costs is also available.
The junior grants program offers up to $5000 to groups including schools, kindergartens, scouts and girl guides and offers access to hands-on outdoor activities.
Werribee MP Tim Pallas said the grants will not only benefit young people and volunteers, but also the environment, both now and into the future.
“These grants will help volunteers and youth across Werribee restore and improve habitats for our native plants and animals.”
“We know Victorians love being out in nature – and we are investing to ensure our precious and unique environment can be enjoyed by future generations” Pallas said.
