Werribee City returned to the winners list in the National Premier League 2 competition on Friday night.
Having only come away with one point from their previous two matches, a win was vital for the Bees against Melbourne City.
Melbourne City opened the scoring in the 34th minute through an own goal to Roy Anderson.
The Bees soon levelled the scores through Daniel Petrov just before half time, with scores locked at 1-1 at the half.
The match seemed headed for a draw, before Petrov gave the Bees the lead in the 87th minute.
The result was made certain when Lars Kinnander converted a penalty in injury time.
The Bees won 3-2.
It was the Bees third win of the season and brings them up to 10th on the table.
This week the Bees face Brunswick City on Friday night.
In the FV state league competitions, Hoppers Crossing got a much needed win against Epping City in state league 2 north-west.
The Reds were down 2-0 before Rashidi Edward converted a penalty in the 52nd minute to reduce the margin.
The scores were soon level when Akos Surjan scored in the 63rd.
Lucas Muscat gave the Reds the lead in the 85th minute and the side went on to win their first game of the season, 3-2.
In state league 4 west, Truganina Hornets fell short against the Moonee Valley Knights.
Scores were locked at 2-2 at half time, before two goals in the dying minutes gave the Knights the win.
The Hornets sit bottom without a win after five rounds.
In state league 5, West Point had a 5-0 win against the Surfside Waves, while Tarneit United’s and Wyndham’s match scheduled for Monday night after deadline.
West Point sits top of the table undefeated.
