October 30, 1974

Werribee Shire Council revealed last week that Werribee central shopping area should be the major shopping complex for the shire but a recision notice will have to be dealt with before the decision is official. Council was split over whether the major centre should be in the central area or somewhere else.

October 31, 1984

Werribee faces its biggest snake problem in 30 years, says local snake catcher Charlie Lash. The veteran reptile wrangler has already caught more than 60 snakes in backyards since they started coming out of hibernation about two weeks ago.

20 years ago

October 26, 1994

Werribee has won its battle to retain the prized Laverton North industrial area but stands to lose up to $1 million in rate revenue when Exford and Balliang East are merged with neighboring shires. These are the main ramifications of municipal boundary changes recommended by the Local Government Board last week.

November 10, 2004

Some Wyndham service stations may be investigated for allegedly selling dirty fuel, which has cost some motorists up to $1600 in repairs. Westpoint Ford service manager Laurie Sammut said an average of two cars a week had been coming in with damage caused by contaminated fuel. Consumer Affairs Victoria urged affected motorists to report incidents immediately.
