The local derby between Hoppers Crossing and Werribee ended in a draw, but more could still come from the match in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association east-west.
Rain leading into day two of the match meant the game, like many others in the division, didn’t go ahead on Saturday.
Teams in those matches shared the points and with a close competition, every point is vital.
Star Weekly believes that concerns about the wicket at Chirnside Park not being covered properly in the lead up to the match have been raised.
Hoppers Crossing president Greg Mitchell said they were waiting to hear back from the association in relation to whether anything else will happen.
“Until the association asks us to provide information, there’s not much other than that,” he said.
“It’s out of our hands and the association will do their thing.
“They’re our nearest rivals and the game at Hogans Reserve was able to be played. It’s a bit disappointing that there was no game played at Chirnside Park.”
As of Monday morning the result in MyCricket was still unofficial.
The Cats had made 5-315 on day one of the vital match.
Both teams are fighting for finals spots.
Despite the match not being played on the weekend, the Cats sit in third spot, one of five teams in the top six equal on points.
The Tigers, who are one of those teams, sit in sixth spot. Endeavour Hills, which is in 10th, is just a game behind second place, showing how close the competition is.
Mitchell said they were more worried about what they could control, which is their upcoming match with Spotswood, which sits atop the ladder.
Elsewhere in the VSDCA on Saturday, just three matches went ahead in the east-west.
Melton, Balwyn and Spotswood were the teams to come away with the six points.
