Residents are being encouraged to visit a library in the municipality and participate in the BIG summer read challenge.

Kids and youth up to the age of 18 can participate in the state-wide initiative, which seeks to motivate people to spend time at public libraries and reading over the holiday period.

Young readers receive a Book Binge Card, and are challenged to read set books to complete a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line to be entered into the prize draw.

Participants then go into a draw to win prizes, including a Zoos Victoria adult pass, Museums Victoria family pass, or Readings Bookstore gift voucher.

Adults can also get involved by creating their own personalised reading list.

Filling out a short form on the Wyndham libraries website about your reading interests will then prompt librarians will choose four books they recommend based off of your preferences.

The books will then be reserved, and residents can collect them from their local library.

The BIG Summer Read challenge will run until January 31, 2023.
