It’s the culmination of years of schooling and as year 12 students across the state learned the fate of their academic future, Westbourne Grammar School’s Yolanda Wu found herself feeling grateful.
The school’s dux achieved an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 99.55.
“[I’m thankful] to those who have inspired me throughout this journey, my wonderful and amazing teachers who have imparted their wisdom, especially during my VCE years,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to attending university next year and studying creative writing.
“I have always had a love for writing and I’m aspiring to become a published author one day.”
Over 33 per cent of Westbourne students had an ATAR of 90 or over, and principal Adrian Camm said he is particularly proud of the ways in which the whole cohort of students has given their best this year.
“They have exemplified our values and demonstrated enormous resilience throughout the challenges of the past couple of years with such character and strength,” he said.
