Point Cook Lions seek new pride

The Point Cook Lions Club is re-launching and interested community-minded residents are being encouraged to join.

President Salvatore Anselmo said the group is “very excited” to be involved in the community again and strengthening the visibility and engagement of the club is their main goal.

“The Lions Club of Point Cook will continue to assist community groups and individuals inneed, as well as undertake projects to make public areas in communities more enjoyable,” he said.

“Wherever there is a need, you’ll find Lions there, actively involved in getting the job done and making things happen, always ready to roll up the sleeves and find a solution.”

Mr Anselmo said that in an “increasingly complex world” the club provides one of the most basic human needs, friendship.

“Being a member of a friendly club that is involved with the community, with wide horizons, we can see considerable potential for the club to be bigger and more active than ever,” he said.

“While we give a slice of our spare time to welfare and the community, all of us have received back in kind, far more than the efforts we put into our lions work.

“More members, mean more hands, if you have some spare time, have a passion for your community, environmental projects, aiding the vulnerable and/or want to lend a hand at turning a sausage or two, then we would love to hear from you.”

The club’s first meeting will be held on Monday, January 16, at the Featherbrook Community Centre at 6.30pm.
