Libs pledge to lower age requirements for drivers

An elected coalition will allow 17-year-olds to obtain a probationary driving licence.

Under current rules, motorists, including those in Wyndham, are required to be 18 or older to apply for a probationary driving licence.

Liberal party leader Matt Guy, said he believed the plan would get more young people in work.

“We trust young Victorians to make the right decisions on the road,” Mr Guy said.

“This simple, common-sense change will mean Victorians are no longer at a disadvantage to other states, and bring us in line with the rest of the country.”
