Glen Orden is heading in the right direction in the Western Region Football League division 2 competition.
The Hawks had some good results under first year coach Nathan Moon this year and are hoping to build on that in 2023.
Moon said the club was in a good space as they looked at new ways to ensure they were supporting players as much as they can.
“It’s a great place to be at,” he said.
“The club is in a good space. A few extra players would be handy to build some depth so we can be successful in division without relying on too few.
“The club is doing everything they can to get as many people playing football as we can. Our reserves side will have cheaper fees so everyone can come get a game of footy without worrying about the financial side of things.”
The Hawks started pre-season last week, with about 30 players in attendance for the first session which Moon was happy about.
Moon said most of the senior group had recommitted for next year.
He said they were keen to add a few more senior players to the list to add a bit more depth, after being hurt by injuries last season.
“We’ve been talking to a lot of possible recruits, but we haven’t nailed down as many as we would have liked,” he said.
“There’s opportunities for players that weren’t playing senior football this year to come to the club and get an opportunity.
“We’re looking to add a few experienced players who missed out on senior opportunities.”
Lachlan Petruccelli, who has crossed from Burnside Heights, is one of the confirmed signings. He’s expected to play a mid-forward role for the Hawks.
After a number of players missed games with injuries this year, the club is focused on ensuring that player welfare is front and centre to ensure players are staying on the park with ice baths and injury management part of that.
Having finished this season in seventh spot, two games outside the top four, Moon said they believed they were good enough to being playing finals.
“Our best is good enough to play finals,” he said. “We beat two of the top four sides this year.
“We want to be one of the fittest sides in the competition and have our fundamental skills as sharp as possible going into next year.
“Based on that we should have better results. Anyone that wants to come down and have a chat is welcome.”
Off field, Moon said they were keen to get some support to help upgrade lighting at their ground.
