FV
West Point has appointed Tom Petreski as coach for next year’s FV state league 5 west season. Petrski spent most of last season in a player-coach role where he showed passion, dedication and commitment to the club and playing group all throughout the season. West Point finished this year in sixth spot, winning half their games. The club is expected to start pre-season next month.
Bowls
The Bowls Victoria weekend pennant season is set to get underway this weekend. Werribee is playing in division 2, section 1 alongside Hoppers. Hoppers will start its season against Yarraville Footscray 3, while Werribee will play Deer Park 2. Altona Sports, Altona 2 and Melton 2 are the other teams in that section. Werribee’s second side is in division 3 and its third and fourth are both in division 4. Point Cook’s top side is in division 4 and Mt Cottrell’s top side is in division 5.
WRFL
Point Cook Centrals welcome back Dean Henderson for next year’s Western Region Football League division 1 season. Henderson, who is a utility, left the Centrals at the end of the 2019 season. Centrals, who were undefeated in 2022, have also announced the re-signing of Daniel Strnak. Strnak kicked 53 goals this season playing a key role in their premiership success.
M-League
The Altona Falcons made their debut in the top men’s and mixed competition in the state, the M-League competition on Wednesday night. The Falcons, who are affiliated with the City West Falcons, have sides in the premier men’s competition and the premier mixed competition. Several of the City West Falcons’ Victorian Netball League players are part of the mixed team. The men’s side lost 47-44, while the mixed side won 56-55.
