It won’t just be boxing and pilates classes at the Werribee InBalance Fitness 24-hour group challenge for charity event.

Think activities like alphabet exercise classes, karaoke cycle, midnight mashup and pump in pyjamas, as the group prepares to raise money for the Cancer Council.

“[In] the fitness challenge, members, friends and family form a team, and together they participate in classes, so nobody goes the full 24 hours,” manager Michelle McDonald said.

This is the fifth time the group hosts a fundraiser to support cancer survivors, after one of the gym’s instructors lost her grandson to cancer.

“Everyone is touched by cancer one way or another, that is the reason we have chosen the cancer council to focus on,” Ms McDonald said.

The fitness fun will commence on Friday October, 7 at 5pm and convene at the same time the following day.

For residents “allergic to exercise”, Ms McDonald said people can still come down and support the event by purchasing a homemade treat from the bake sale, or bidding on an item at the silent auction.

“The locals in our area are just incredible, considering they’ve also been affected by COVID-19 lockdowns,” she said.

“They donated vouchers, jewellery, whatever you want, we’ve got it.”

At the end of the event, Abby Martin, a resident participating in fundraiser will cut her hair in an effort to secure additional donations.
