Werribee Centrals upset Thomson to secure a spot in the Geelong and District Netball League preliminary final. Centrals claimed the 42-36 win on Sunday to set up a clash with Winchlesea this Saturday. Winchelsea lost to East Geelong in its semi final. The winner will face East Geelong in the grand final. The club’s under-19s are already through to the grand final and have the week off, while the under-15s and under-17s will play in preliminary finals.
WRFL
Werribee Centrals’ season is over in the Western Region Football League women’s division 1 competition. Centrals faced a fired up Caroline Springs side on Sunday in the preliminary final. The Lakers put out a dominant display, winning 21.12 (138)-2.7 (19). Sarah Patten was the best for Centrals. The Lakers now face Spotswood in the grand final. In division 2, Point Cook Centrals will play Caroline Springs. Both grand finals are on Saturday.
NPL
Western United’s National Premier League team is going up to NPL2 next season. United faced the Goulburn Valley Suns in a play off game on Saturday, with a spot in NPL2 on the line. United put out a strong display, winning 6-1. Noah Holmes scored two goals in the win. Kingston City won its play off game against Melbourne Victory to remain in NPL2. United joins Werribee City in NPL2, with the Bees securing the future in that division in the final round.
NAB League
The Western Jets are through to the NAB League Boys finals after winning their play off match with the Geelong Falcons. The Jets, who finished the regular season in 12th, beat the Falcons 10.8 (68)-4.9 (33). The Jets now face the Dandenong Stingrays in an elimination final on Sunday in Ballarat.
