Little libraries could soon be popping up in front of homes or kindergartens near you, with the idea that residents can take a book and leave one behind for someone else to enjoy.
As part of the Werribee River Association’s Sustainability Streets program, 10 little libraries will be installed in Wyndham.
WRA sustainability project officer Jess Fairfax said the organisation collaborated with the local community to ensure the success of the project.
“Part of the work we do is to develop initiatives that promote a local economy that prioritises sharing, swapping, reusing and repairing,“ she said.
“Not only does this mean we buy less, often resulting in less waste ending up in our rivers and oceans, but it also creates connected and resilient communities.
“We hope that people build strong connections with their neighbours and also benefit from having easy access to the wonderful world of books, which can take us on fantastic adventures and teach us so much about the world.“
