Sanctuary Lakes teenager Caitlyn Martin won second place at the Sydney Eisteddfod’s Robert and Elizabeth Albert Junior Classical Ballet Scholarship Final.
The competition is open to ballet dancers aged between 14-15 from across the nation.
Eight finalists were selected from 57 young dancers, who performed at The Concourse Concert Hall in July.
Caitlyn’s mum Kerrylee said her daughter is extremely dedicated to dancing and is very determined.
“She just started dancing when she was two-years-old, she just enjoyed it and started [participating in] competitions and [has] done extremely well for herself,” she said.
“She loves dancing, it’s what she wants to do as a career one day…she’s a very hard worker.
“Lot’s of friend’s birthdays missed, lots of school events missed and she dedicates her time to dancing.”
Caitlyn won a cash prize of $1500, for winning second place in the junior category.
She also competed in the Demi-Character and Classical Ballet categories and took home first place.
