Recovery funding for multicultural communities

Sixty multicultural community and media organisations, and individuals are set to share in more than $2.3 million in state government funding to promote COVID-safe behaviour and support pandemic recovery.

Multicultural Affairs minister Ros Spence announced the grant on Thursday, June 9, provided through the Multicultural Communications Outreach Program.

“Victoria’s multicultural communities have kept our state safe during the pandemic and I’m proud to be able to further support their leadership and work with this funding,” she said.

“Multicultural media outlets have played a vital role ensuring everyone knows how to play their part in keeping the community safe. It’s a big job – and I can’t thank them enough.”

A government statement said the program provides funding for diverse communities, such as those in Melton and Moorabool, to build connections, share health information, produce content tailored to multicultural audiences and develop skills.

“The program will also support Victoria’s social and economic recovery by encouraging organisations to deliver creative training opportunities and workshops for community members,” the government said.

According to the government, the Multicultural Communications Outreach Program has invested more than $4 million across more than 77 organisations since November 2021.
