A new multi-sport pavilion will be constructed at Bensonhurst Parade Reserve in Point Cook has received $800,000 in state government funding.
The grant will allow for a large female friendly facility with eight change rooms, umpire change rooms, accessible bathrooms, first aid, storage, community space and a kitchen/kiosk.
It will also provide a new base for local soccer and cricket clubs to host training, games, community celebrations and events.
In Tarneit, a $250,000 boost will go towards the construction of six competition standard tennis courts with lighting that can also be used for netball.
The pavilion is expected to be complete in May, 2023 and the tennis courts will be completed in March, 2023.
Community sport minister Ros Spence made the announcement in Melton on Thursday, May 19, as part of a $27 million investment from the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.
“Victorians love their sport. We’re looking to level the playing field by investing in projects that inspire more Victorians to take part in community sport with the very best facilities across the state,” she said.
Clubs in Wyndham that are interested in seeking support through the fund can contact Wyndham council to help with the application process.
