Town centre to support growth

A new town centre will be built in Riverwalk to support Wyndham’s growing population.

The new centre is scheduled to be built as part of the Riverwalk residential development, located three kilometres from the Werribee town centre.

Development Victoria’s Group Head, Property, Penny Forrest said the new centre would support the community and provide a much-needed retail hub for residents and visitors to Riverwalk.

“With 2,500 residents already calling Riverwalk home – this new town centre will benefit the whole community with a range of commercial and retail offerings,” Ms Forrest said.

Ms Forrest said the site would also attract more visitors to the area.

“It will also attract more people to the area – with the site conveniently located three kilometers from the Werribee town centre.

The site includes 1500 lots, a primary school, an early learning centre and two community parks which feature shelter, play equipment and barbeque facilities.

The town centre was approved by Wyndham council in 2010 and will include a range of commercial and retail uses as well as a mix of townhouses.

Ocean Group has been appointed to deliver the commercial aspects of the centre after the group purchased a three-hectare site.

“The new Town Centre has been part of the Riverwalk vision for over a decade, and the sale of this site is an exciting milestone for the development,” Ms Forrest said.

The commercial zoned land is anticipated to include a supermarket and a variety of other retail stores and services.

The residential component of the Riverwalk town centre has been set aside for development in the future.
