FV state league

Hoppers Crossing continued its good run of form in FV state league 2 north-west on Saturday. Facing Moreland United, Hoppers took a 1-0 lead into half time. A goal early in the second half doubled that lead. While Moreland got one goal back it wasn’t enough with Hoppers winning 2-1. In state league 3 north-west, Point Cook lost to Altona North 1-0, while Point Cook lost 2-0 to Truganina Hornets in state league 4 west. In state league 5 west, West Point and Wyndham both suffered 2-1 losses.

NPL

Werribee City suffered its first loss of the National Premier League 2 season, falling to Manningham United Blues on Saturday. Blues’ Noah Mihaildis scored through a penalty to give his side the lead, before scoring a second to increase the lead to 2-0 at half time. That would be the final score. Despite the loss, the Bees remain on top of the table.

The Bees face Kingston this Saturday.

GDFNL

Werribee Centrals remain without a win after two rounds of the Geelong District Football League. On Saturday, Centrals lost to East Geelong, 12.15 (87)-4.8 (32). Daniel Boyd and Josh Bouwman kicked two goals each. In the A-grade netball, Centrals lost 31-26. Centrals have a bye this weekend due to Easter.

WRFL

Werribee Central started the Western Region Football League women’s division 1 season with a big win against Manor Lakes. Centrals did most of the damage in the first quarter as they kicked four goals to one. They would keep the Storm goal less for the rest of the game on the way to a 6.8 (44)-1.4 (10). Larissa Renaut was named best on ground. In division 1, Point Cook beat Carolina Springs, while Laverton lost to Braybrook-Albanvale.
