Werribee River dredging goes on for safe boating

Dredging will continue at the Werribee River channel to ensure safe boating access at Werribee South.

Parks Victoria spokesman Stephen McPhee said a natural build-up of sand had created a hazard, which would be removed and re-distributed along the beach.

Mr McPhee said the dredged material contained seaweed, which may give the beach an unpleasant smell and colour for a short time.

Boat users are advised to take care and observe the five-knot speed limit in the channel and in the vicinity of the dredging.
