All lanes are now open inbound on the West Gate Freeway, after tunnel works caused major disruptions.

Traffic was down to one lane during the morning peak hour rush.

Vic traffic say the travel disruptions were caused by West Gate tunnel works running overtime.

Social media users took to Twitter to share their frustrations.

Katrina M said the delays were a “disaster of epic proportions”.

“So many late to work and school. Every road completely gridlocked is unacceptable.”

Vic Traffic urged motorists to consider using Geelong Road or Ballarat Road instead, or using a Williamstown or Werribee line train.
