Werribee Centrals and Laverton both suffered big losses in Victorian Turf Cricket Association division 3 on Saturday. Werribee Centrals were bowled out for 78 in reply to Sunshine Heights 8-220. Laverton fell well short in reply to Williamstown Imperials 4-274, making 9-140. Point Cook had a better day, beating East Keilor. Point Cook made 120 before bowling East Keilor out for 79.

Bowls

Werribee cemented its spot in the Bowls Victoria weekend pennant division 2, section 1 two with a win against Yarraville Footscray 2. The teams split the rinks two apiece, but Werribee was able to come away with the overall win 81 (14)-68 (4). Robert Panton and Brendan Barker were the winning skips for Werribee. Werribee sits second on the ladder on 160 points, 10 behind ladder leaders Deer Park 2.

Women’s cricket

Werribee has claimed the minor premiership in its first season in the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association women’s competition. The Tigers finished on top of the ladder in division 3, with only one loss for the season. The Tigers finished the regular season with a big win against Keilor. Point Cook will also play finals after finishing fourth. In the Cricket Victoria Women’s Community Cricket north-west (B) competition, Hoppers Crossing has finished the regular season in second. The Cats will play Greenvale Kangaroos (2) in the first week of finals.

Baseball

Werribee had a big win against Port Melbourne in Baseball Victoria summer league division 2. The Giants had no issues at all, in the 14-0 win on Sunday. The Giants sit fourth with four rounds remaining. The Giants women’s side had a tough day on Saturday in division 3 west. The Giants lost to North Western Black, 20-3. The Giants sit bottom of the table with two rounds remaining.
