A Point Cook resident will take centre stage at the Stitches and Craft Show later this month to showcase the creative art of yarn-bombing.
Susan Campbell-Wright has helped cover a vintage Daimler car in colourful threads ahead of the show to highlight the work of a group of Melbourne yarn bombers.
Yarn bombing is a new take on street art, with enthusiasts decorating all sorts of roadside objects in bright knitted and crocheted covers.
The Daimler will be on display for the four-day show, which runs from October 23-26 at Caulfield racecourse.
Ms Campbell-Wright is part of a not-for-profit group known as the Yarn Corner, which started in 2011 and has since grown to become one of the largest yarn-bombing groups in the world, with about 1000 local and international members.
Ms Campbell-Wright will talk about the Yarn Corner’s previous and future projects, which have included major yarn bombing installations around Victoria, including at City Square.
She said the group and yarn-bombing have become so popular that event bookings need to be made two years in advance.
The Stitches and Craft Show will also feature workshops, fashion parades, cake decorating demonstrations and textile exhibitions.
