Learner driver intercepted by police

A learner driver had an expensive trip to buy fried chicken after being intercepted by police in Werribee on Friday, February 11.

The driver’s vehicle was flagged by ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) as showing cancelled registration.

The vehicle was intercepted by Public Order Response Team (PORT) officers who found that the driver was a learner, driving by herself.

The driver was also not displaying her L plates.

The vehicle’s plates were seized, and the driver, a 20-year-old Hoppers Crossing woman, received penalty notices for driving an unregistered vehicle, learner driving unaccompanied and fail to display L plates.

The chicken run will cost her $2000.
