Police investigation after house fire

Police are investigating after equipment, believed to be a cannabis hydroponic set-up, was found at the scene of a house fire in Werribee.

Police and emergency services responded to reports of a house fire in Werribee on Wednesday, February 9.

Investigators have been told the fire broke out in the property on Sittella Court just before 6am.

The fire was extinguished and police officers located what is believed to be a cannabis hydroponic set up in the property.

Nearly 30 Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) firefighters attended the blaze this morning, after multiple callers to triple-0 reported a single storey brick house immersed in flames.

The fire was declared under control at 6.35am.

At the height of the incident, there were nine FRV appliances on the scene, including five pumpers, one rescue unit and one aerial unit.
